Volunteering with the CBA

We welcome the valuable contribution made by volunteers. There are a number of different options if you would like to volunteer for the CBA:

  • Listed Building Casework: much of our listed building casework is carried out by voluntary historic buildings correspondents. We always welcome inquiries from potential correspondents with an interest in the archaeology of buildings, or an expertise in particular types of structure. Some training is provided.
  • Young Archaeologists’ Club: YAC Branches rely on teams of volunteers to run them so we are always looking for new adults to get involved as Branch Leaders, Assistants and Helpers.
  • CBA Groups: CBA regional and national groups around the UK organise a large number of events and activities, and would welcome volunteers to help with this work.
  • CBA secretariat: at the CBA secretariat in York, there are often opportunities to contribute to projects and help us with our day-to-day work. Please contact us if you would like to do this.

From time to time, the CBA plays a role in coordinating teams of volunteers for specific projects such as the Defence of Britain project. When such opportunities arise we’ll include details on this page and make a news announcement via our homepage, so look out for further details!
