Dr Peter Pickering
Born in Lincoln, Peter read Classics at Oxford. He worked as a Civil Servant until 1995 after which he did a PhD at University College London on verbal repetition in Greek tragedy. Long interested in archaeology, he joined the archaeological section of the London Natural History Society in 1958 and became secretary of the section. He has taken part in many archaeological excavations with Hendon and District Archaeological Society (HADAS) and elsewhere, as work and family have permitted. He is currently vice-chairman of HADAS and is also active on the Historic Buildings Committee of London and Middlesex Archaeological Society (LAMAS), and on other bodies concerned with planning matters. He became a Fellow of the Society of Antiquaries of London (FSA) in 2009.
