BBC Hands on History
Following a presentation by the BBC’s Learning Project Manager for London, Kathryn Morrison, at the recent London Archaeology Forum, a number of people expressed an interest in getting involved in BBC Dig!
BBC’s Hands on History wants to work with archaeology groups across London to enhance their existing activities and events into the autumn.
This can be something that is part of a meeting already planned with a small group such as a young archaeology club, or be part of a larger activity. You don’t need to reinvent the wheel!
This activity could be a walk, a talk, or an exhibition where people can find out about archaeology in a “hands on” way.
What’s in the partnership for your group, society, or museum? A close identity with the BBC brand and values will add to your profile. The free publicity on the website could mean new potential supporters for your organisation. The use of high quality resources and the Dig! logo – subject to agreeing to the standard terms and conditions – will add a professional gloss to your activity.
BBC Dig! will culminate in Digging for Britain which is back for a second series on BBC 2 in September (tbc).
