Leverhulme Trust Awards

Grants made by the Trustees are classified under two main headings:

  1. grants to institutions for the purposes of research, academic interchange, and education;
  2. grants to individuals administered by the Research Awards Advisory Committee
    • research fellowships and grants, special research fellowships, emeritus fellowships, and study abroad studentships.

Much of the largest part of the Trust’s annual income goes into grants to institutions for purposes of research, however excavation projects are excluded from funding. Only archaeological projects concentrated on technical experiment and innovation are eligible. The Trustees rarely support very large projects and applications for amounts in excess of £100,000 should be of exceptional quality and significance.
