HEIRNET User Survey 2005
Report and analysis undertaken by ADS on behalf of HEIRNET By J. Brewer and W.G. Kilbride
The overall aim of this survey was to conduct both a formative and a summative
evaluation of the HEIRNET community. Formative because it would try to identify
what kinds of information the community members want and how they want it
disseminated to them, for the future improvement and creation of HEIRs, and
summative because it would also try to establish the success of the currently
existing HEIRs and determine the membership of its’ online community.
In particular, this report aims to determine:
The popularity of HEIRs within the Archaeology and Historic Environment community.
The general online habits and user needs of the online Archaeology and Historic Environment community
The membership of this community and the specific internet use of each group in the community, including their preferred HEIRs, information types, and searching methods.
Areas where improvement of HEIRs could be made in order to improve visibility online and gain maximum uptake of their content.
The shape of the next HEIRNET survey by making suggestions for issues that are in need of further detail and exploration.
