4.4 Searching

Google is by far the most frequently used search engines for finding out about archaeology and the historic environment, while the few academic search engines do very poorly overall. HEIRs should take into serious consideration how well their site is exposed to web spiders, like those used by Google.

University Graduate students and Undergraduate students are largely in favour of advanced searching and searching multiple resources at one time. Most other user groups sat on the fence for these two questions, claiming that 'it would depend on the search' whether they would find these tools useful or not.
