MSRG Committee and Officers, 2012Susan Kilby (Student Rep.)
Following a twenty-year career in the Financial Services industry, Susan completed her undergraduate degree in 2009 at the University of Leicester. During which time she became especially interested in the medieval English manor and its associated peasant communities, alongside the landscapes in which they lived and worked. This led to a BA dissertation examining the welfare of a late thirteenth- / early fourteenth-century peasant community in Northamptonshire. Through the Centre for English Local History, in 2009 Susan was awarded a four year ESRC studentship to complete both an MA and PhD in English Local History. Her MA was awarded the 2010 John Hurst Memorial Dissertation Prize, which provided a case-study and methodological framework for her doctoral research, currently underway and entitled Encountering the Environment: Rural Communities in England, 1086-1348. |
