Dr Stephen Mileson is a Research Fellow at Oxford University and a lecturer in medieval history at St Edmund Hall. His main research interests are in medieval social history and in local and landscape history more generally. He is currently leading an interdisciplinary project on perceptions of landscape and settlement in south Oxfordshire, c. 500-1650. The project, funded by the Leverhulme Trust, is combining documentary research and archaeological fieldwork to examine how inhabitants understood their environment and constructed their identities in relation to the places in which they lived. Stephen is also editor of the journal Oxoniensia. |
