Dr Kristjan Ahronson  Research Committee Chair
Dr Kristjan Ahronson is a Lecturer in Archaeology at Prifysgol Bangor University (formerly known as University of Wales, Bangor). He has a growing interest in the history of archaeological thought, and has recently explored the study of early Christian cave use in Britain (e.g. Ahronson, K & T M Charles-Edwards 2010 Antiquaries Journal 90:455-466). Kristjan's work locates him at the interface between late prehistoric and early historic archaeology and is avowedly inter-disciplinary and theoretically grounded, intergrating archaeological, Celtic and palaeoenvironmental materials.
Kristjan is a Fellow of the Society of Antiquaries of Scotland. Previous to his doctoral studies at the University of Edinburgh, he graduated from St Michael's College at the University of Toronto. He has held fellowships at the universities of Edinburgh and Oxford (at Jesus College and at Wolfson College), held appointments at the national museums of Canada, Scotland, and Iceland, been awarded a major Canadian-government grant, and most recently been Visiting Professor in Celtic Archaeology at the University of Toronto. As a field archaeologist, Kristjan has worked professionally in Canada, Iceland and across the UK.
