An Archaeological Ramble AFTERNOON WALK - A walk around York with CBA Executive Director, Neil Redfern

How and why do we value the past and what about the here-and-now of a historic city like York? If this interests you then come and join Neil Redfern, Executive Director of the Council for British Archaeology on a ramble around York. After growing up north of York, Neil has spent the last 22 years living and working in the city and has been actively involved in the management of the city's archaeology and heritage. This Archaeological Ramble will focus on some of the sites and stories that have interested him the most.

The details

The walk will start at 2pm, and will last approximately 2 hours. We will leave the start point promptly at 2pm so please can we ask you to arrive by 1.50pm.

The walk will start and finish at the Council for British Archaeology's office. The address is De Grey House, St Leonard's Place, York, YO1 7HE.

The event is free to attend but places will be limited to 20 people per tour so booking is essential.

The event will take place in all weathers so please come prepared, there will be some sections where the ground may be uneven so please wear appropriate footwear. If you have any mobility issues please let us know by contacting [email protected]  in advance of the walk so we can ensure the walk is suitably paced. It will take place within the City Walls which are mostly pedestrianised but expect the need to use designated road crossings and encounter uneven surfaces and kerbs.
