Castlerigg Connections
June 1-9 2024
Keswick, Cumbria, UK
Stones, skies and summits
The first international stone circle festival
For all lovers of stone circles and related prehistoric sites
Castlerigg Connections 2024 is all about exploring the connections that exist between the iconic, spectacular Castlerigg stone circle near Keswick, in the Lake District National Park World Heritage Site, and related stone circles and other megalithic, earthen and timber sites across Britain, Ireland and western Europe
We're talking about, and discovering, sites that were venerated - and which changed - over thousands of years of prehistory
Our 2024 programme is designed around the theme of Stones, Skies and Summits. We give opportunities for you to explore the fascinating stone circles and related sites - there are over 80 of them in Cumbria and the Lake District. We'll feature guided tours using your own (or public) transport, with experts on hand to show you the stones and their marvellous (and beautiful!) mountain and lakeland landscape contexts
We'll also have talks from experts on a variety of stone circles and the fascinating debates around their construction, use and meaning - both in the past - and for us today
Note: except for Festival guided tours, no Festival event or talk takes place at Castlerigg Stone Circle
All Festival tours, talks and the closing party are ticketed events, and must be booked in advance. Car parking charges apply on some tours - these aren't covered in the tour fees
