In May 2025, join us as we go Out & About exploring the archaeology of our towns and villages, forests and rivers, open spaces and terraced streets! From the 17th-25 May 2025 you can actively explore the amazing and rich archaeology and heritage across the country by joining one of our guided walks or rides, downloading and following some routes local to you, or even just exploring some of our online trails for the comfort of your own home.

In addition to hosting free guided walks and rides in York and Leicester, we have joined-up with partners across the country to help you discover the archaeology and heritage close to you.  Through these guided tours, downloadable trails and online walks, Out & About Archaeology is the perfect opportunity to discover the archaeology on your doorstep.

Why not create your own virtual Guided Walk!  We have joined with the amazing folks at Nautoguide to create bespoke immersive digital walks on their Geovey website.  You too can create your own digital walks on the site by following our simple 'How to guide' on the below link.

The immersive platform we have used is called Geovey and produced by Nautoguide. We have put together a resource to help you explore the platform and get started. To find out more click on the link below.

Reconnecting Archaeology

Out and About archaeology is the first project in our plans for the 'Reconnecting Archaeology project'. Funded by the National Lottery Heritage Fund, the project aims to help connect archaeology to a wider audience and to help break down barriers to engagement faced by marginalised groups and communities.
