We know that many of our branches are in the process of re-starting face-to-face activities across the UK. However, we can only do this when it is safe for our members and volunteers.
We have updated our support document for branches and the various template paperwork to reflect the current government guidance and in response to our recent consultation with the YAC network regarding risk assessments.
The updated 'Return to YAC Meetings: Support during and after COVID-19' document, has been written to help support YAC leaders to assess when their branch can re-open for both outdoor and indoor sessions. And, how to plan these sessions in a COVID-19 secure manner.
The information provided is not exhaustive and does not cover every eventuality. Instead, it should be used as a starting point to support re-opening and on-ongoing sessions during the pandemic. We cannot provide blanket guidance, as no two YAC branches are the same in terms of their venues, numbers, activities etc. All branch leaders will need to make plans in response to their particular circumstances.
Within this document you will find the following information:
- FAQs when planning for meeting safely to help you, as leaders, to create your risk assessment and decide how you will meet.
- A template covid-secure risk assessment with guidance on how to fill it out. We have created a COVID-19 risk assessment template that you can use to explore the potential issues and barriers to re-opening and which can then form the basis of every risk assessment for your sessions.
- A re-opening checklist to help you consider what steps you need to take prior to opening and how to plan COVID-19 secure sessions.
- A template outbreak management plan – this sets out what you should do if someone tests positive for Covid.
- A template letter for parents/carers
- A template poster for display
The main thing to remember is that our number one priority is making sure that all our members and volunteers are kept safe. If you do not feel that you can do that, you should not feel obliged to restart activities.
