The 2026 #AskAnArchaeologist Day will take place on Friday 24 July - get your questions ready!
#AskAnArchaeologist Day is a chance for people from all over the world to ask archaeologists questions and an opportunity for archaeologists to share their knowledge.
Throughout the day, post your question on your preferred social media channel and include the #AskAnArchaeologist hashtag. We encourage archaeologists and anyone with an interest in the subject to respond and share their thoughts, ideas and experience - archaeology is all about creative and curious conversation!
We will also be continuing to use the #AskAnArchaeologist Day account @AskAnArchDay on X where the event first started and the Festival team will be sharing some of the day's top posts and keeping you up to date with opportunities to put your questions to some of the UK's leading archaeologists from 9am to 5pm.
There’s nothing too formal about the day and there's no such thing as a silly question – whatever you want to know about archaeology, ask away and someone will (hopefully) know the answer. Since the event began in 2018, people from all over the world have taken part with lots of fascinating questions and discussions taking place.
For more information take a look at our FAQ page.
In the meantime, spread the word and get thinking of questions (or polishing up your answers).
