This Festival of Archaeology the National Trust are launching their new Devil’s Dyke Discovery Trail. A circular walk around the Iron-Age Hillfort. Along the way, short videos reveal the stories of the landscape, its wildlife and the people connected to it.
Did you know Devil’s Dyke is the longest dry valley in Britain, it was home to Iron Age communities, it is home now to rare chalk grassland plants, and was once the site of one of the earliest roller coasters? Follow the trail to uncover these stories and more.
Look out for QR codes on posts and benches around the route. Scan them on your phone to watch short videos and find out what makes Devil’s Dyke so special.
Use the map to follow the full route, or explore the ramparts at your own pace. When you find a Discovery Trail plaque, scan the QR code with an internet-enabled device to watch the video.

Devil's Dyke car park is 2 miles north of A27 Brighton ring road, and just off A281. Take the Hove junction from the A27 and head north (signposted to Devils Dyke). Follow the road and keep bearing left at any junctions until you reach the Dyke. (Unfortunately there is no post code for the car park).
Parking: Pay & display parking at Devil's Dyke. £1.65 for 1 hour; £3.30 for up to 2 hours; £8 all day. National Trust members and Blue Badge holders park free. National Trust members should scan their membership cards at the machine and collect the ticket to display in their car. Not suitable for coaches.
