Come explore the Roman Past of St Mary's Church & Beddington Park on the 16th and 23rd of July. See the Roman coffin discovered in the 19th century and find out more about the Roman journey to the afterlife.
Local Historian and Archaeologist, John Phillips, will give a talk on the Roman Past of St Mary's Church & Beddington Park.
There will also be hands-on activities for children and young people (ages 5 - 16) inspired by Roman casting methods and art techniques:
In our casting activity inspired by Beddington's Roman coffins, children and young people will get to create their own sand and shell moulds, before casting them with plaster of paris. They can also have a go at creating their very own mosaic coasters, inspired by Roman art.
Youth activities will be held from 14.00 - 15.30 each day (free entry, children must be accompanied at all times, no booking required), with Roman talks at 14.30 - 15.00 (free entry, open to all, book via Eventbrite).
