Wanstone Rediscovered - Archaeological Excavation at Fan Bay

Wanstone Rediscovered is National Lottery funded Archaeological project which seeks to excavate and conserve the important military heritage on the White Cliffs of Dover. 

This seasons will be focussed on the excavation of one of the six inch gun emplacements at Fan Bay, as well as the entrance to one of the subterranean magazines.

Parking at Wanstone, Reach Road, St. Margarets-at-Cliffe, Dover, Kent, CT15 6HY, United Kingdom

Additional location/direction information

Access will be from our overflow car park field off Upper Road, 2km north / west of the main White Cliffs car park. The car park and access routes to the site will be clearly advertised on open days. The site has been inaccessible for many years and is not normally open to the public. Surfaces may be uneven and slippery. The nearest facilities are located via a 1km walk to the nearby South Foreland Lighthouse.
