The CBA celebrates its 80th anniversary in 2024 and we'd like to welcome you to our offices to find out more about archaeology and the work that we do across the UK.

Our core work is focused promoting archaeology and helping people particapte. Learn more about our five key areas of activity which support our membership, deliver our events and projects, underpin our statutory role as a National Amenity Society, support our publications, and deliver our youth engagement programmes.

Drop into the office and have the chance to talk to CBA staff about the range of work that we do and have a go at some of our hands-on activities.

We also want to hear from you and will have some activities and discussion points ready to help you share what archaeology means to you and let us know what you would like to see from the CBA in the future.

As it's our anniversary year we will of course have some celebratory cake and refreshments and there will also be goodie bags for you to take away.

Who is it for

Anyone is welcome to join us, you don't need to have any previous knowledge or experience with archaeology, just an interest in finding out more.

The CBA office will be open from 10am to 2pm. It is a drop-in event so you can come along at any point during that time.

Where to find us

The CBA office is located in De Grey House which is between the De Grey Rooms and York Theatre Royal.

Address: Council for British Archaeology, De Grey House, St Leonard's Place, York, YO1 7HE.

The CBA office is on the ground floor of the building but there are steps up to the entrance. The event is wheelchair accessible but if possible, please let us know you will be coming in advance so we can make sure we are ready to welcome you.
