Fireside Chats: Roman Excavations at Eastfield

One of the highlights for 2021 was the excavation of the Eastfield site near Scarborough. It has raised many as yet unanswered questions regarding the unique Romano British structures which overlay earlier features.

One of the most significant Roman sites to have been recently excavated in the UK has been uncovered just south of Scarborough.  The site has many features which are still raising important questions within the archaeological community.  The site was excavated by Paula and her team from MAP assisted by volunteers from the community sector.

There is also evidence for earlier Iron age settlement which is currently being investigated.  There has also been opportunities for community archaeologists to get involved in a commercial project.  Join us next Tuesday to find out more from the site director Paula Ware.
