Guided Tour of Thornborough Henges - Central and Southern Henges

Explore Thornborough Henges with this guided tour

Tours run from 11am-12.30pm on 8th, 15th, 22nd, and 29th May. 

Thornborough Henges are a unique triple henge dating back to the Neolithic period and have a number of other significant features which are no longer easily visible.

This tour, focusing on the central and southern henges, will inform you as to why they are there, how they were built and what it is thought they are used for. You will also learn about other features on the site, including the cursus, which is no longer visible, the bronze age barrows and the bronze age double pit alignment, again no longer visible. You will also discover how they are linked to other monuments in the area and what makes these henges unique.

Parking in layby which can be muddy. There is no specific disabled parking. 

Accessibility

The site is flat, grassy with rough ground. can be slippery when wet.

There are no toilets or shelter on site. 

Additional information

Dogs on a short lead please.

Children are welcome but under 16's must be accompanied by a responsible adult.

There may be sheep in lamb or with lambs in the henge fields.
