Online talk via Zoom to be given by Kenneth Dodd, Trustee of the Long Melford Heritage Trust, Suffolk.
This talk will look at recent excavations in the town of Long Melford, situated on the line of more than one Roman road. The digging was carried out by volunteers, under the direction of Kenneth Dodd. What did they find? What do we now know about the Roman settlement which lies below the later medieval town?
Ken’s passion for archaeology stems from his early teens and shortly after he went on to accept rolls as a supervisor on many excavations in the South East and the Midlands. He has, for the past five years, lead Long Melford Heritage Trust's archaeological team and community volunteers into revealing important knowledge of their Roman town’s past.
