Talk via Zoom to be given by Adam Wightman, Excavations Manager, Colchester Archaeological Trust (CAT).
This talk will look at recent archaeological discoveries adjoining the ancient roman road stretching west from the walled town of Colchester towards London and Verulamium. The site extends in front of and behind the former Essex County Hospital, which is undergoing significant new development. What do these excavations tell us about life in Colchester between the Conquest (43AD) and the historical end (c410AD) of the roman western empire?
