Visit to a medieval moated site in Fulbourn, Cambs

Meet at the entrance to Fulbourn Fen Nature Reserve on Stonebridge Lane, Fulbourn.

Aileen will lead a walk to look at Hall Orchard Medieval Moat which was subject to excavation in the early 2000s. The walk is approximately 1 mile allowing 1 to 1½ hours to complete. Free parking in Fulbourn, please note that access is across rough ground. Hall Orchard Moat is the site of a medieval manor house, one of five known to have existed in Fulbourn.

Aileen directed excavations on the house platform in the centre of the moat and will explain the history of the site and what was found there.
