Visit to Fleam Dyke, Fulbourn, Cambs.

Meet at the entrance to Fulbourn Fen Nature Reserve on Stonebridge Lane, Fulbourn.

For further information and to book your place please contact walk leader Aileen Connor by email [email protected].

Aileen will lead a walk to the impressive bank and ditch earthwork of Fleam Dyke, a Scheduled Monument thought to be Anglo-Saxon in date. The circular walk is approximately 2½ miles allowing approximately 2 hours to complete. The Dyke is one of four that effectively cross the route of the Icknield way running from heavily wooded higher ground in the south-east to low lying Fen in the north-west.

Aileen will talk about the Earthwork, the historical context and what is known about it from past excavations.
