CBA East covers the counties of Cambridgeshire, Essex, Hertfordshire, Norfolk, and Suffolk. As part of the Council for British Archaeology’s network of regional groups, we aim to involve people in archaeology and to promote the care and appreciation of the historic environment for the benefit of present and future generations.
The work we do is funded by our members’ subscriptions. It is fulfilled at a local level by inviting members to visit sites of archaeological or historical interest and informing them of possible opportunities to become directly involved in aspects of archaeology. Alongside this, a regular newsletter is published. To support further projects in the area, we also liaise with other archaeological groups and societies, as well as make small grants available for archaeological work in the region. In addition, we hold an annual AGM and biennial conference.
