CBA Writes to PM and Ministers on Proposed Planning Reforms

On 17 July 2020, the Council for British Archaeology, along with sector colleagues from the Chartered Institute for Archaeologists, the Association of Local Government Archaeological Officersthe Heritage Alliance, the Federation of Archaeological Managers and Employers, the Society of Antiquaries of London and RESCUE wrote to the UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson and other Ministers to ask for assurances that possible radical reforms to the planning system will maintain existing safeguards for the historic environment.

You can read the letter to the Prime Minister below - and you can help by writing to your own MP to ask that archaeology is protected in the planning process.

We have released a blog that explains why we must not abandon the proven successful relationship that has been established between planning and archaeology.

We need to Speak Up for Archaeology – we need your help and support to do this and make our voice heard.
