The glorious Roman Army returns to Binchester Roman Fort to do battle against the Barbarian enemy! Plus Portable Antiquities Scheme Session
Watch the Roman Army, including Equistry cavalry, do battle against the enemies of Rome. See demonstrations of archery, slingstaffs and the firing of the artillery catapult known as the ballista. Children can even enter the battle against local tribes!
Visit the tented Roman encampment of Roma Antiqua and inspect the weapons, armour and equipment of Roman soldiers as well as the stalls of civilian traders and artisans.
Tour the site and be amazed by the size and importance of Vinovia and its magnificently well-preserved buildings!
Plus Durham FLO Ben Westwood and FLA Caroline Smith will be hosting a Portable Antiquities Scheme finds handling (and general chat) session! Come along and meet you FLO/FLA!
