On the ground

HIGHAM FERRERS CASTLE

Multiple dates and times available

Very little is known about Higham Ferrers Castle in Northamptonshire as there is nothing left of the Castle above ground, and an exciting new project to conduct a geophysical survey over the Higham Ferrers Castle Site, courtesy of a grant from the Castles Research Trust, will start on 15th July 2024. View displays of what buildings the castle housed, information sources from the documentary evidence, and tour the Castle Site with HiFARS Chair Olwen Mayes and learn what she has discovered in  almost 20 years of research. View a collection of Late Medieval Reduced Ware pottery made in Higham Ferrers in the mid 1450`s during the lifespan of the Castle Site. Additionally, to keep young visitors entertained, we have a play table with a medieval castle and other activities.
