The Road Less Travelled; an exploration of lesser-known monuments and sites in the Avebury landscape

Join Melanie Pomeroy-Kellinger (Wiltshire Council Archaeology, Landscape and Design Manager) and Claire Selman (Stonehenge and Avebury World Heritage Site Partnership Officer) on a guided walk across the Avebury Landscape, to explore, discuss and interpret some lesser-known sites and monuments, including the Beckhampton Long Mound, the Adam and Eve stones and Knoll Down.

The walk will cover 3 to 4 miles in total, exploring the landscape both inside and outside of the western part of the Avebury World Heritage Site, and will take approximately 1.5 to 2hours. Walking conditions will be moderately easy, on tarmac or gravel footpaths, with only a little uphill.
Please come dressed in clothing appropriate for the weather conditions on the day, and wear footwear suitable for walking on public footpaths across country. Please bring your own food and refreshments. A personal supply of water is essential during hot weather. Well behaved dogs on leads are welcome to join.
