Tour of Leicester Guildhall and St Martin's Cathedral

Multiple dates and times available

Join Irene Turlington on a walking tour between St Martins Cathedral & Leicester Guildhall and explore the Herrick Family connection.

There has been historic links between the Guildhall and St Martins Church since around 1350. The religious Guild of Corpus Christi had their altar in the great south aisle in St Martins. The Town Library was moved from St Martins to the Chantry Priests Rooms in 1632 in the Guildhall. There are connections with the English Civil War and the Siege of Leicester, to name but a few.

On this tour we will be particularly concentrating on members of the Herrick Family – Robert Heyricke – the Alderman and Mayor of Leicester, and Sir William Herrick.

The tour will begin in the Cathedral and then continue in the Guildhall next door.
