AI and Emerging Technologies for the Modern Archaeologist: Turning Data and Heritage into Public Impact
Archaeology is drowning in data and under pressure from limited resources, but AI, blockchain, and other emerging technologies can transform the field. Automated analysis, 3D reconstruction, and smart workflows accelerate research and uncover patterns that would take years to detect manually. Gamification, AR/VR, and interactive tools engage visitors, while blockchain enables secure provenance, digital ownership, and new funding models. By combining tech with heritage, we can make archaeology smarter, more efficient, and more impactful for both research and public engagement.
Hosted by CBA Executive Director, Neil Redfern, this lecture will showcase the potential for emerging technologies to support research and public engagement in archaeology and heritage.
The talk will be followed by a Q&A where you will have the opportunity to put your questions to Sara.
