Award Nominations
Nominations for the 2025 Marsh Community Archaeology Awards will open as part of our AGM on Saturday 8th February 2025.
The Awards have two categories...
- Community Archaeologist of the Year - This award recognises an individual volunteer or professional who is going above and beyond their role to contribute to community archaeology.
- Community Archaeology Project of the Year - This award recognises and promotes the results of research and/or fieldwork led by community groups which have made a substantial contribution to knowledge and wellbeing.
New for 2025: Sponsored Travel Bursaries for Dig It! Participants
The Marsh Charitable Trust is now sponsoring travel bursaries for participants in our Dig It! competition. These bursaries are designed to break down barriers to participation by helping cover the cost of travel for young people engaging with archaeology, making it easier for them to take part in life-changing fieldwork opportunities.
During their Dig It! with YAC day, our winners will get stuck into a range of field-based activities such as digging, washing finds, and learning other archaeological skills, giving them a real taste of what being an archaeologist is all about!

Thanks to this generous support, we can open up access to archaeological experiences for even more young people who may not otherwise have the opportunity to get involved.
As always, our Dig It! winners will also receive toolkits generously provided by Past Horizons, ensuring they’re equipped and ready to dig into their first on-site experiences.
Nominating an individual or project for the Marsh Community Archaeology Awards is quick and easy.
To help you prepare your nomination we have put together a series of guidance documents with examples of how to complete each section of the nomination form.
