Help Build a Medieval-Style Timber-Framed Shelter
Join Timescape Archaeology at CARAD, Rhayader, for an exciting hands-on heritage project. We are constructing a historically inspired timber-framed shelter using traditional medieval woodworking techniques—and we need your help.
What You’ll Do
- Learn ancient timber-framing methods such as mortise and tenon joints.
- Work with hand tools to shape and assemble the structure.
- Be part of a community project, meet new people, and enjoy the experience.
- Help raise the shelter in a traditional frame-raising event.
Who Can Join?
- No experience required—training will be provided.
- Ideal for enthusiasts of history, woodworking, and practical projects.
- Volunteers must be aged 16 or over.
Dates & Location
- Location: Timescape Museum, East Street, Rhayader, Powys LD6 5ER
- Schedule: Two days per week from 11 September to November 2025 (flexible volunteering options available).
