On the ground

Be an archaeologist for the Day - Cornwall Young Archaeologists' Club at Boden, Lizard Peninsula

11:00 AM

Join the archaeologists at Meneage Archaeology Group and help to explore Cornwall's prehistoric past in the fields of Boden.

We’re opening a new area for 2026, right next to a Bronze Age roundhouse and Roman graves, so help dig our test pits and see what you can find! You also get a tour of the mysterious Iron Age underground tunnel, known as a fogou.

Also on the day you’ll get a chance learn all about prehistoric finds from Cornwall, handle our finds and recreate some prehistoric pottery with a local expert.

If you don’t mind getting messy you can have a go at some experimental archaeology and help build a roundhouse wall, covering it with wet ‘daub’, a kind of plaster used in the Bronze Age. Be warned, it’s muddy and you have to use your hands!

Please note this event is suitable for ages 8 - 16 only and there are 15 places available, so book fast!
