What to expect

The exhibition features photographs and artefacts that reveal Burrator’s history. People and wildlife at Burrator have become woven into the fabric of the landscape, each shaping and reshaping it over centuries.

The built heritage — from farmsteads, tin streaming and leats, to the reservoir infrastructure itself — tells the story of how communities have worked the valley, while today the returning woodlands, moss‑draped ruins, farming and thriving wildlife show how nature has reclaimed and reinterpreted those same spaces. Together, they reveal a landscape where human history and ecological change are inseparable, each layer enriching the next.

Parking: Free parking is available at the Burrator Discovery Centre car park. Additionally, multiple free car parks surround the lake, allowing visitors to enjoy walking trails around the moorland and lake.
