The Churches Conservation Trust is committed to protecting all the buildings under its care from damage, but evidence of the impact of 800 years worth of weather on Holy Trinity Goodramgate can be easily seen (if you know where to look for it).
On Saturday 25 July, join a tour of the building and grounds at 1130 or 1400 to take a look at the ways that the environment has shaped the building and how the people who have tried to resist this weathering have left their mark. Hear about those who built the church, damaged it, repaired it and fundraised for it and discover how and where the climate continues to make an impact to this day. Highlights of the tour are available on request to the volunteers across the Festival.
Our current fundraising appeal is focused on the repair of the Goodramgate Gate. The brickwork which dates back to 1700 and the ironwork to the 1800s. Grade II* listed, the gate is most likely the one used by Anne Lister and Ann Walker when they visited in 1834 and it now frames the rainbow plaque which marks that visit.
