Discovering Cliffsend and Pegwell Bay - Archaeological Landscape Walk in Thanet, Kent
Multiple dates and times available
As part of the Thanet Archaeological Landscapes Mapping Project, we are pleased to invite you to join us for a guided archaeological walk exploring some of Thanet's most fascinating archaeological landscapes.
Discovering Cliffsend and Pegwell Bay
This walk will explore the rich archaeological heritage of Cliffsend and Pegwell Bay, an area associated with some of Thanet's most significant archaeological discoveries.
The full route is approximately 6 km (3.7 miles) and is expected to take around 2.5 - 3 hours, including stops. For those who would prefer a shorter walk, there will be an opportunity to follow a cut-through route that reduces the distance by approximately 1 mile. The walk follows predominantly flat terrain along pavements, lanes and coastal paths.
What to Expect
There will be plenty of opportunities to stop along the route to discuss the archaeological discoveries that have helped us better understand how people have lived, worked and moved through this landscape over thousands of years.
