The Romans are back!
Discover a Roman Living History encampment and demonstrations on the site of the Roman fort in Pumsaint. Two thousand years after the departure of the Romans from Dolaucothi, NT Dolaucothi and Legio VIII Augusta MGV Roman Living History Society bring the distant past to boisterous life with this fascinating insight into Roman lives and times.
Indulge in life as a Roman. Explore the Roman settlement, sniff out what's cooking on the camp fire and examine some authentic armour up close. Catch a talk about life at the fort in the Roman era or have a go at script making with the whole family. Children can get hands-on with activities throughout the day too.
Please bring appropriate footwear in case the field is wet and muddy.

Additional location/direction information
Parking for the Festival of Archaeology at Dolaucothi is located behind the Coach House in Pumsaint (opposite the Dolaucothi Arms). The Festival will take place on the community field next to the car park, accessed through the gate in the fence. The ground is level and accessible. Please bring appropriate footwear as the field may be wet in case of rain.
