If the veteran trees of Sherwood could talk what could they tell us? Join the Friends of Thynghowe and Forestry England to hunt out forest stones, holloways and ancient trees on a walk through Birklands, part of Sherwood Forest looking at the heritage of the woodland. Looking at evidence through the eras including the medieval Crown Forest, forest management by the local ducal estates and more recent changes resulting from military use, modern forestry and it's designated nature site status.
A steady walk with regular stops to look at features in the forest. Bring drinks and snacks, wear suitable footwear and come ready for the weather.
