The Petersfield Big Dig takes place in Petersfield, Hampshire, from 4th to 19th July 2026. This is the fourth such annual event, following on from the successes of the previous Big Digs in July 2023, 2024 and 2025.
The event is being organised by Liss Archaeology, community archaeology group for East Hants. We will be carrying out new explorations on exciting sites in Petersfield - some on land owned by the Town Council and some in private gardens in the historic areas of the Town. Although the dig will be undertaken by our members, local residents including children will be able to watch our progress.
As part of the Festival for Archaeology come along to High Meadows Recreation ground on July 18th and 19th from 11 am to 4 pm to see what we've found and take part in family friendly activities.
