Get ready to experience life in the Roman army on the Empire's furthest western frontier in the world's only full-sized reconstructed Roman fort. Witness thrilling displays of Roman combat, and archery displays from Roman auxiliaries - the specialist soldiers of the legions drawn from the conquered tribes of eastern Europe. See how these soldiers lived - in our recreated barrack block or within the yurt that harks back to their eastern European roots. Have a go at throwing axes and let the kids join up in our children's Roman army. Park in the Past's founder will be taking daily tours, introducing not only the fort but also the fascinating story about how it came to be built.

Additional location/direction information
Our fort is approximately 1 km from the car park. Whilst the path to the fort is fully accessible with no steps, there are a few small inclines to be aware of. Prams and pushchairs will have no problems, but it may be an issue for the less mobile. A member of staff will be available to transport anyone with mobility issues to the fort.
