Stories from the Gibbet

1:00 PM

Stories from the Gibbet invites you to explore the history, folklore and landscape of Helsby Hill through a unique combination of guided walking and live storytelling.

Beginning at The Railway Inn, we'll walk together to discover the story of the historic gibbet site, the landscape that surrounds it, and the people, myths and memories that have shaped this place over centuries. For those who prefer to stay in the pub a live stream will be on the pubs telly.

After the walk, we'll return to the warmth of The Railway Inn for the premiere of a brand-new story written especially for this event by The Writing Dr Nicola Spooky Johnson, Resident Writer for Kin by Nettie CIC. Enjoy free tea, coffee and scones generously supplied by Matthew, our friendly pub landlord, as we gather to listen, reflect and connect.

Suitable for adults and older children. The walk isn't buggy friendly, although there are alternative routes from behind. Contact us to discuss further. Well-behaved dogs are welcome on the walk.

Word of warning "Gibbets" are part of a viscose and gruesome past in our national heritage....

You have been warned!
