Sutton Hoo Ship's Company timber cleaving demonstration at Sutton Hoo

Join the Sutton Hoo Ship's Company as they demonstrate the traditional practice of timber cleaving- splitting a tree into planks by hand. This is a process that would have been used to make the Sutton Hoo ship. Now, it is being used by the Sutton Hoo Ship's Company to make a full-scale replica of the ship. Please be aware that this activity is weather dependent.
