Littledean – ritual Bronze Age, Iron Age and Roman site?

Don Macer-Wright, Littledean

The Roman site, a temple or shrine arranged around a formal pool, at Littledean on the edge of the Forest of Dean overlooking the River Severn, has continued to give up its secrets. Recent excavations have shown that before the Roman period the site was likely to have been ritually significant in the Iron Age, and before that there is evidence, supported by radiocarbon dating, of use in the Bronze Age.
