Join us at the Archaeology Data Service and Internet Archaeology for two digital journeys through both our processes and our archives/articles. The journeys themselves along with further details of how to join in will be released on our social media channels throughout the course of the festival.

The Archaeological Tour of Great Bowden, first produced in 2008, has been re-written. So much more has been discovered since then and you can enjoy a walk through history, about 2.75 miles long with just one hill to climb and options to shorten the distance. You can follow the walk on your mobile phone with 10 information stops, and then use the Supporting Information document on our website to explore things further if you wish.

UCL's Institute of Archaeology and the Centre for Applied Archaeology - Archaeology South East are running a photo competition for staff and students past and present and creating an online exhibition for this year’s Festival of Archaeology. The photos will tell a story of our staff's time as an archaeologist, whether at the Institute of Archaeology, or subsequent career in the sector. They will give insight on the life journeys, career paths, or things that happened or were found on dig, holidays, or fieldtrips that are a big part of the lives of all UCL archaeology students and staff. The winners' photos will be featured on our website https://www.ucl.ac.uk/archaeology-south-east/festival-archaeology-2022 and social media pages.

This exhibition will explore who built Hadrian’s Wall and how, and consider the substantial practical and logistical challenges involved. It will also focus on the revealing evidence from the impressive 80 metre stretch of Wall remains at Segedunum.
