Festival of Leicestershire and Rutland Archaeology

Runs throughout festival

Get out and explore your local community!

The Festival of Leicestershire and Rutland Archaeology, part of the CBA’s national Festival of Archaeology, is back for a month long celebration of our two counties heritage!

Archaeology is all about people and how we explore and interpret the past. Archaeology has a unique ability to bring people from all walks of life together through our shared sense of community – what it meant in the past, what it means to us now, and how we can shape our future.

Join us from 29th June to 28th July, and celebrate the rich and diverse heritage of Leicestershire and Rutland. Uncover the stories, sites, buildings, places and people that make our local communities special. Go to new places and revisit old one. Discover and share the history and archaeology that is all around us.

  • Family friendly activities

  • Guided heritage walks

  • Talks from some of the counties’ leading heritage experts

  • Self-guided walks to enjoy at your own pace
