An event looking at the trenches and history of the Sherwood Pines WW1 Clipstone Camp site. Re-enactors in WW1 uniform will have various displays and artifacts. Display materials at the Visitors Centre will include information on five local soldiers related to a member of Sherwood Pines site staff, one of whom was demobbed back to Clipstone camp.
The Miner 2 Major Veiled Landscape Project team will also be in attendance and you will have the opportunity to see the highest resolution LiDAR map that has ever been made of Sherwood Forest and learn more about the historic environment of the area. This map shows the landforms and features beneath the thick undergrowth of the forest to unveil the trenches and other archaeological features in greater detail than ever before.
