This conference, 50 years after Ivan Margary's death, will celebrate Ivan’s life, work and legacies (examples including Fishbourne Roman Palace, Avebury and Windmill Hill). Margary was a national expert on Roman roads, especially in the Weald and the South-East of England. His two well-known books are: Roman Ways in the Weald (1965) and Roman Roads in Britain (1973).
Speakers at the conference will include: David Calow, Nathalie Cohen, Mike Haken, Professor Tony King, David Millum, Mark Roberts, Dr David Rudling, Dr Miles Russell, and Professor Naomi Sykes. There will also be bookstalls and poster displays at Kings Church, including a display of Roman finds from the excavations of a roadside settlement at Bridge Farm near Barcombe Mills.
