Accessing Archaeology Online: Challenge the ADS!

Have you ever tried to use a heritage database and ended up hitting a brick wall? Have you struggled to understand how to search for the subjects that you're interested in? Then this session is for you!

This is a hands-on workshop that will support participants to access heritage and archaeological data through the Archaeology Data Service (ADS). In this workshop you will:
● Explore heritage data hosted by the ADS.
● Challenge the ADS experts with your questions! What heritage topics would you like to know more about?
● Receive training from ADS experts about how to use these databases.
● Provide feedback to the ADS about how our resources can be improved in the future!

This workshop will be followed by an event in the Autumn (date TBC), which will draw on what we’ve learnt as part of the Archaeology Audience Network to discuss how we can make information held by online archaeology archives more accessible for all.

We are keen to enable participation for a wide range of participants. The AAN will remunerate participants for their time using vouchers that can be used at a wide range of shops. The AAN can also subsidise travel and help with dependent care costs. We ask you to contact us in advance to arrange train tickets or other forms of transportation as required (e.g., long-distance bus fare, accessible travel options), and to discuss any other support you may need in attending the workshop. Light refreshments will be served at the workshop. We ask that you tell us in advance of any dietary requirements you may have. We also ask that you let us know if you have any other cultural or accessibility requirements that we should be aware of in order to welcome you to the workshop.
