Come join us at High Hunsley Deserted Medieval Village to uncover one of the most exciting archeological projects of 2022.

The aim of the project is to establish the character, form and extent of the archaeological remains at the Deserted Medieval Village of High Hunsley.

The site has been identified on maps and illustrations from the 17th to the 19th centuries, with additional information from recent surveys including LIDAR mapping completed by Historic England. Beginning in 2019 and others.

The site location commands views in all directions and is the location of the Hunsley Beacon and was maintained until c.1820. .  The village was the muster point for the 1536 Pilgrimage of Grace, probably the most serious threat that the Tudors faced to their rule.

This year we will continue to excavate the largest house platform on the site which has produced some stunning finds and artifacts
